Sebastian Mullaert has run Villa Söderåsen together with Åsa since 2016. They share a strong passion for integrating nature into everything they do and for creating a place where people can be inspired by nature – reminiscent of every person's awareness and inherent creativity. In recent years, Sebastian has chosen to tour less in order to spend more time at Söderåsen and thereby invite others to take part in the magic and power of the place. 

Music is Sebastian's primary form of expression and the area where he primarily explores his creativity, especially through improvisation – both solo and in interaction with others. The heart of this business is Wa Wu We studios, located just a five-minute walk from Villa Söderåsen. 

Sebastian has performed thousands of concerts at festivals, concert halls and clubs around the world, and his discography includes several hundred record releases. If you want to read more about his music and the projects Circle Of Live and In Bloom, you can follow the links below. 

At Villa Söderåsen , Sebastian arranges creative retreats, guides groups in nature, and welcomes students from all over the world to private coaching sessions and self-retreats. A few times a year, he also invites you to concerts as part of the packages he develops together with Åsa. For example, you can experience an ambient concert within the framework of Villa Söderåsen's In House Retreat or participate in a club night at Stationen during the Summer Celebration package. 

Most of the Villa Söderåsen reflects Sebastian and Åsa's passion and personality – including the music. Sebastian continuously curates the music that is played on Villa Söderåsen. The music is played from 7 in the morning to 10 in the evening and follows the different moods of the day. Every day of the week has its own playlist, so if you stay for several days, you get to enjoy new music every day.

Sebastian has been exploring music all his life, with roots in classical music and acoustic instruments. During the 1990s, he chose to immerse himself in electronic music – a focus that has since been his main artistic direction. 

Over the past 20 years, the love of improvisation has led the way both in studio work and live performances. Sebastian writes and produces his own music, collaborates with a large number of international artists and also composes music for others.

In Bloom Creative Retreats

In Bloom is Sebastian's platform for education and inspiration in creativity, often with a focus on music but also other art forms. The core of the activities is creative retreats where participants are guided in opening up and welcoming their inherent creativity through exercises, lectures and presence in nature. At these retreats , Sebastian teaches together with other established artists in different disciplines. 

Retreats are arranged both in Villa Söderåsen and in places close to nature around the world. In addition, workshops and online classes are regularly offered.

Circle of Live

Circle Of Live is a live project where different constellations of artists are invited to perform improvised music with minimal preparation and a very open structure. Each concert is curated uniquely and often consists of musicians who have neither played nor rehearsed together before. The intention behind the project is to offer the audience a raw and open musical experience, a reminder of the beauty of the unpolished and naked and the meaning and magic we experience when we allow an experience in this context.

Creative Coach & Lecturer

Sebastian's lectures revolve around creativity and how we can awaken and allow the natural flow with simple means. Central themes are improvisation, nature, meditation, movement and the exploration of our introverted and extroverted needs. 

He also offers coaching sessions – both online and on-site in connection with visits to Villa Söderåsen.

Nature guide

Nature is Sebastian's main source of inspiration and balance. He spends a large part of his time in nature on Söderåsen and offers guided tours to his personal favourite spots. 

The guided tours can have historical, geological or biological perspectives – or focus on quiet presence in nature in combination with meditation, sensory exploration and movement.

Photo

Nature photography has become an important part of Sebastian's time in the forest, a way of opening up for a closeness to life in nature through activity and movement. Directing one's attention to the details of nature for longer periods of time creates a closeness that is difficult to put into words. 

In addition to nature photography, he also works with sports, event and portrait photography. Sebastian shoots with a Nikon Z9 in combination with his favourite lenses: 400mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8, 24-70mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.2 and 105mm f/2.8 macro.
